FEEDING THE NEEDY

The third Saturday of every month, it is CBE's responsibility to feed the needy members of our community at the Methodist Church at Cochran & Erringer in Simi Valley. Thank you to the following groups who have volunteered for upcoming months:

July - Men's Club

How about giving 4 hours a month once or even more than once? Please join us by contacting Susie Fintz at (818-298-5433) or sfintz@sbcglobal.net.

MITZVAH PROJECTS

Our B'nai Mitzvah students are asked to do a social action project during their bar or bat mitzvah year. You can help them out by supporting the projects below.

RECYCLE FOR CBE

Adam Patrella is collecting soda cans and plastic bottles. Please bring your empties to the temple whenever you can. Look for his marked container.

SHOW SOMEBODY YOU CARE

Erin Shore's supporting the "A New Way of Life Re-entry Project" - http://www.anewwayoflife.org/. Women in rehabilitation are missing the essentials such as: small lotions, soaps, shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, toothpastes, toothbrushes, dental floss, lip balm, hair ties, and stationery items.

If you choose to donate, please leave your items at CBE in Erin's marked container.

SIGN THE WORLD'S LARGEST VIRTUAL BIRTHDAY CARD FOR ISRAEL'S 60TH BIRTHDAY

Young adults can show Israel they care on her birthday by being a part of a global virtual birthday card. The American Zionist Movement is co-sponsoring the Jewish Agency for Israel's initiative with the goal of connecting 60,000 young people around the world in support of Israel on her 60th birthday.

Participants can choose to donate to youth at risk, education in Israel, new immigrants, or to support Sderot, select a message in a language of their choosing, and view a map of fellow Zionists in other countries who have also signed the card.

RECEIVE A NEW ISRAEL AT 60 CERTIFICATE WHEN YOU PLANT 6 TREES IN ISRAEL

JNF has launched the Plant 6 Trees for Israel at 60 Campaign to rebuild and renew Israel’s northern forests devastated by the war with Hezbollah, as well as to create parks and other green spaces for new communities being built in the Negev. In recognition of Israel at 60, $60 plants 6 trees in Israel, with an EZ Tree account. That's a 45% savings over the single tree price of $18 per tree - $108 for all six. Plus, you will get an Israel at 60 Tree Certificate honoring your gift during Israel's milestone year. If you prefer, you can send six certificates to honor friends and family members for a special occasion in their lives.

People who have a JNF EZ Tree account, which can be set up in $100 increments, find it an extremely convenient and affordable way to send a friend or loved one a meaningful gift. If you have already signed up for the EZ Tree program, use funds in your account to support the Plant 6 Trees for Israel at 60 campaign. Open an EZ Tree account to support this campaign. Along with your $60 Israel at 60 gift, you will then have $40 remaining in your account for upcoming birthdays, anniversaries, B'nai Mitzvah, holidays, weddings and other happy occasions. You can also memorialize a loved one. Please join us in helping JNF reach its goal of planting 600,000 trees by the end of 2009.
