WHAT IS A
HAVURAH?
A Havurah is a small group of CBE members who meet monthly,
with or without children, to share Jewish learning and experiences in an
"extended family" setting. The Havurah experience is for people who
are seeking a smaller scale Jewish community and are willing to give of
themselves and work towards building this unique communal bond.
WHAT DOES A HAVURAH DO?
Each Havurah decides its own program based on its own needs.
One Havurah might be involved in a self-taught Bible-study unit, while another
may be going on a retreat to Lake Arrowhead; another may be inviting speakers
in to raise and answer questions on a chosen topic while another may be
planning their next holiday celebration involving adults' and children's
projects. Whatever you and your fellow haverim (friends) decide is a meaningful
program can work for you. Of course, the Havurah Steering Committee is always
available to offer advice and help when asked.
HOW DO I JOIN A HAVURAH?
By completing the "Havurah Application" your name
will be put on active file. As soon as we receive a sufficient number of
applications from people in your age group with your general interests, you
will be notified of the first meeting date of your Havurah. Your first meeting
will be attended by a member of the Havurah Steering Committee to help you get started.
